Hearing the words “You have cancer” or being told a loved one has cancer, brings a whole variety of emotions. Nobody needs to go through this alone but sometimes loved ones and friends are unable to provide support for whatever reason, or you may feel that by talking to someone, confidentially, who is unknown to you and not emotionally involved with the story will help.
Our aims are to:
- Provide you with support which is confidential and free of charge
- Offer telephone support to you, your family and your carers
- Offer support through visits at home or in hospital
- Help you to ask the right questions
- Guide you to other sources of appropriate information
- Provide access to written information about cancer and its treatment
Who are we?
- All our support teams receive continuous training from Cancer Support France. However, we are not medically trained and do not give medical advice
- Many of our volunteers have experienced cancer first-hand and understand the emotional effects of the disease, and its treatment
- Within the team are French-speakers who will help you communicate more effectively with your medical staff
- We are all volunteers
